SBC is hiring a Leasing Asset Manager (Part Time)
Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst (SBC) is seeking an experienced Leasing Asset Manager to join its senior team on a part-time basis, working between 22.5 and 30 hours per week.
Reporting to the Finance Director, this role sits at the heart of SBC’s operations and will play a key role in managing and optimising the campus’s laboratory and office portfolio, supporting tenant growth, and helping shape the continued evolution of one of the UK’s most successful life science campuses.
About Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst
Established in 2012 with backing from government, industry and charitable partners, SBC has become a leading life science campus supporting companies from early stage start ups through to global multinationals. Over the past decade, SBC-based companies have raised more than £4bn in funding.
SBC is known for its collaborative and supportive culture, bringing together science, business expertise and infrastructure to help companies grow and scale. The campus currently provides more than 70,000 sq ft of laboratory, office and shared space, including incubator, accelerator and grow-on accommodation, and is expanding to become one of Europe’s largest clusters for biotechnology and early stage life science companies.
The role
The Leasing Asset Manager will focus on the day-to-day management of SBC’s commercial assets, particularly tenant leases and licences, with a view to optimising occupancy and supporting tenant evolution as companies grow. The role also includes a smaller but important contribution to longer-term site development and planning.
The role requires close collaboration with colleagues across finance, operations, business development and marketing, as well as with occupiers, legal advisers, local authorities and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- The role will include responsibility for managing laboratory, office and virtual occupier enquiries, hosting occupier viewings, agreeing heads of terms, and overseeing the legal process for new leases, licences and renewals. You will ensure occupiers remain compliant with their agreements and work with operations colleagues to manage occupier exits where required.
- You will also maintain leasing and occupier schedules, support occupancy forecasting and commercial reporting, manage external legal budgets related to lettings, and contribute leasing content to management reports and business plans.
- In addition, the role will support senior leadership on development and planning matters, including engagement with landowners, local authorities and other stakeholders as required.
About you
- You will be RICS qualified, with at least five years’ experience in commercial leasing or asset management. Experience working with science parks, innovation campuses, property consultancies, developers or investors would be advantageous.
- You will be commercially astute, highly organised and comfortable managing multiple priorities, with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills. You will be confident reviewing complex legal documents and able to communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders.
Salary and benefits
- This is a part-time role working between 22.5 and 30 hours/three to four days per week.
- Salary will be in the range of £39,000-£56,000 per annum, depending on hours worked, with a bonus of up to 15 percent. This is based on a full time equivalent salary of £65,000-£70,000.
- Benefits include an 8 percent employer pension contribution, life insurance at four times salary, access to the SBC healthcare scheme and the green car scheme.
