SBC 10th Anniversary Celebration for Occupiers

Occupiers are invited to join us on Wednesday, 6th July to celebrate the 10th anniversary of SBC.

The celebrations will be split into three sessions. Please note that you will need to book your place separately for each of the first two sessions.

Morning session: Science Symposium

Time: 9.00am - 12.00 noon

Venue: Incubator Atrium

Join us from 8.30am for refreshments and a series of scientific talks celebrating some of the best advances taking place in campus-based organisations including:

  • Successes in scaling up microfluidic platform for cell expansion - Dr Debra Carter, Senior Technician, MicrofluidX
  • Creating a platform for in vivo cell therapy - Dr George Tetley, CSO, ImmTune Therapies
  • LifeArc's response to COVID-10, Kov Sawmynaden, RQ Bio
  • Control and inducibility of expression for the generation of cytotoxic and membrane proteins in mammalian cells - Lindsey Pearson, Cell Scientist, Protein Cellular and Structural Sciences, GSK/University of Strathclyde collaboration
  • Discovery of an Anti-CD96 mAb as a Novel Check Point Inhibitor in Solid Tumours - Dr David Jones, Investigator, BioPharm Discovery, GSK
  • AI-Powered Precision TIL Therapy - Dr Ed Samuel, EVP Tecnical Operations, Achilles Therapeutics
  • Enhancement of TCR-engineered T-cells Targeting MAGE-A4 Antigen by Co-expression of CD8α and Inhibition of AKT Signaling during ex vivo T-cell Expansion - Alex Tipping, Adaptimmune

There will also be introductions from SBC, the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult and GSK.

If you book a place for the Science Symposium, you will need to book your lunch tickets separately.

Lunchtime session: Celebration Lunch

Time: 12.00 noon - 2.00pm

Venue: Plaza outside Incubator and Accelerator buildings

Tickets available: 300

Join us for lunch and music at an informal networking event to celebrate SBC's 10th anniversary. Food will be provided free of charge and includes burgers from Happy Herefords, Malaysian street food from Lime Face and woodfired pizzas from Wandering Pizza. Ice creams will also be available from King Whippy, and drinks will be provided. Local musician, Sam Lewis, will be playing. 

Visit the Incubator Reception from Wednesday, 22nd June to ask for your preferred food type. We will be issuing vouchers in half hour time slots to reduce queueing. Ice creams will require a voucher but these will be untimed. Food will not be available without a voucher. Drinks will be provided free of charge, but please drink responsibly.

Afternoon session: Scientific Poster Exhibition

Time: 3.00 - 4.00pm

Venue: Accelerator Atrium

Tickets not required

Join us to explore a series of scientific posters from SBC-based companies and other campus organisations. Refreshments will be provided free of charge.
