Claiming for the right tax incentives and cash grants can be a complicated business.

How do you know what is out there and available to be claimed?

The specialists within the EY’s Global Grants, Credits and Incentives team will be delivering an in- person workshop at our Cambridge office on the 18th July surrounding the funding opportunities available for the Health Sciences and Wellness sector in the UK and would very much like to meet you there.

The session will involve experts from across the EY team on the following topics:

Cash Grants:

There has been a lot of new grants available to help support businesses who are active within Life Sciences. During this talk we will walk you through the variety of types of grant funding available within the sector and share insights on what makes a winning application

R&D Tax Credits:

The R&D landscape is changing at a pace not seen since inception of the regimes. Our EY R&D specialists will share insight into the current landscape including HMRC activity, and the changes in effect from 1 April 2023, and also discuss what companies should be considering now in response to these changes.

Capital Allowances:

The Budget in March 2023 announced significant tax relief available for companies incurring capital expenditure in the UK. EY's Capital Asset Tax Services team will provide a summary of the tax reliefs available and some practical advice on how to obtain the tax relief relevant for your business.

Patent Box:

The UK Patent Box regime enables qualifying companies to benefit from a reduced effective rate of CT on profits derived from the exploitation of patents. The modified nexus rules bring with it a requirement to accurately ‘track and trace’ R&D expenditure, as well as requiring a ‘streaming approach’ to calculate the tax benefit. This provides an opportunity to develop a methodology early, even before being in a profit making position, to ensure that the full benefit of the regime is, or will be, realised.  Furthermore, understanding and developing your patent strategy at an early stage can ensure the full level of tax benefits in future

Sustainability Update:

The latest on the carbon border adjustment mechanism, extended producer responsibility requirements and plastic packaging tax.

As part of EY’s presentation there will be time available for you to ask questions and talk though challenges you have seen, along with the opportunity to book a 10 minute 1-on-1 session with any of our above specialists to discuss how your business can access these incentives.

Timings:

10:00am – 10:30am: Arrival, late breakfast and Networking

10:30am – 12:00pm: Grants, and Incentive’s session

12:00pm: Lunch, and one to one discussion opportunity

Location:

EY, One Cambridge Business Park, Cambridge, CB4 0WZ

If this is of interest, please email Ruby Sharoon-Khan or One Nucleus who will register your attendance to the workshop and send over the relevant event details.

We very much hope you can join us and look forward to welcoming you to what promises to be a highly thought-provoking session.
