Lucy Gravatt appointed as Communications and PR Director, Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst
Lucy Gravatt has been appointed as Communications and PR Director, Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst, starting 5 June.
Lucy has led on communications for Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership and Hertfordshire Growth Board, running large advocacy campaigns to secure significant investment for the county.
As part of Hertfordshire LEP senior leadership team, Lucy forged many successful private-public sector partnerships and played a key role in designing the LEP’s future business model. Lucy co-designed the first ‘Generation’ event for Hertfordshire which has gone on to become the flagship careers fair helping thousands of young people to find out more about local job opportunities and enabling businesses to access a diverse talent pool.
Working closely with Hertfordshire’s local authority leaders, Lucy was instrumental in developing and delivering the place narrative, brand and communications strategy for the Growth Board.
A former national newspaper journalist, Lucy worked with some of the finest Fleet Street editors and writers and was a sub editor for the Evening Standard, Press Association and large regional titles. In 2022, Lucy was appointed a Trustee of Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation.
Lucy joins Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst as it is about to embark on the next stage of its growth trajectory with UBS Asset Management and Reef bringing forward £900m investment to create one of Europe’s largest life science hubs.
She said: “I’ve had a remarkable eight years at the LEP working with a talented team and a business-driven Board. I am really proud of what we have achieved. I am now looking forward to my next challenge with Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst and deepening very valued partnerships.
“This is such a dynamic time for life sciences in the UK and Stevenage is right at the heart of the action. It’s not often that such an exciting opportunity arises and I can’t wait to sharpen my pencil and get going!”
