In this role, you will establish our brand new lab space, establishing it, from the ground up. if you enjoy building things, this role is for you! You will develop high throughput screening platforms. and will work closely with the therapeutic area leads, running critical experiments to help progress the drug discovery programs.
In this role, you will be
Running key experiments pivotal to progressing our drug discovery programs
Responsible for setting up, devising new and improving existing high-throughput sequencing-based protocols (from library preparation to quality control)
Training of new lab personnel, including technicians and fellows
At Ladder Tx, we are a digitally native company operating at the intersection of machine learning, novel chemistry and RNA biology to shine light on the dark genome. We are creating an in-silico and in-vitro platform that enables the discovery of small molecule modulators of RNA.
The current toolkit for developing drugs is focused almost entirely on the protein targets. The actions of these proteins however are known to be influenced by areas of the genome that do not encode proteins, the non-coding genome, classically termed “junk DNA”, which encodes RNA; the transcriptome.
Variation in the non-coding genome, the “dark genome” is associated with many diseases but remains inaccessible by classical drug discovery. Our mission is to engineer molecules targeting the dark genome.

PhD, or 5+ years of hands on bench experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Experience with the CRISPR/Cas9 systems or pooled screening platforms
Experience In vitro synthesis (and quality control) of RNAs for high-throughput assays
Experience with mammalian cell culture (primary cells and cell lines) and molecular biology techniques (nucleic acid extraction & quality control, PCR/RT-PCR, protein extraction, western blotting, cloning)
Ability to work independently as well as in a team, in a fast-paced environment
Agile mindset and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to analyze/present data and write reports efficiently
Experience with cloning, plasmid preparation from bacteria
Nice to have
Prior wet lab experience centered around RNA
Experience with high throughput assay development and optimization
