Senior Scientist (Biology)

Stevenage

LifeArc is a self-funded medical research charity. Our mission is to advance translation of early science into health care treatments or diagnostics that can be taken through to full development and made available to patients. We have been doing this for more than 25 years and our work has resulted in four licensed medicines and a diagnostic for antibiotic resistance.

Our success allows us to explore new approaches to stimulate and fund translation. We have our own drug discovery and diagnostics development facilities, supported by experts in technology transfer and intellectual property who also provide services to other organisations. Our model is built on collaboration, and we partner with a broad range of groups including medical research charities, research organisations, industry, and academic scientists. We are motivated by patient need and scientific opportunity.

The Role

LifeArc are seeking a Senior Scientist to provide scientific support for target validation, which is a key activity to deliver programmes into LifeArc’s drug development pipeline, as well as to advance projects and meet the objectives of the Centre for Therapeutics Discovery.  Immuno-oncology is a key element of LifeArc’s oncology portfolio and there is a need for a person with specific immunology / immuno-oncology experience to support collaborative programs.

As a Senior Scientist you will independently develop and perform cell-based immuno-oncology assays and train/mentor others to be able to run these assays. You will provide direction for the scientific rationale of your assigned project(s) both internally and in discussion with collaborators.

Who you Are

Given the nature of work we are looking for scientists with an immunology / immuno-oncology background and proven ability to lead the scientific rationale of a project or specific scientific aspects of that project as well as having a broad knowledge of drug development approaches.

You will be educated to Post-Doctoral level with several years’ relevant laboratory experience in immunology with preferably extensive knowledge in the field of immuno-oncology.

Salary

Your salary will be determined by qualifications and experience. In addition, LifeArc offers a defined contribution pension scheme, private health insurance, a flexible benefits scheme and 31 days paid holiday per year.
