Scientist (Asset Delivery)
LifeArc is an independent life science medical research charity committed to improving positive patient outcomes everywhere. As a champion for human health, LifeArc partners with academic, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and charity organisations to move promising medical research forward into viable and accessible patient treatments. As a charity we are self-funded, re-investing our incomes from developed drugs & diagnostics to support translating research from the bench to patient.
Our Centre for Therapeutics Discovery (CTD) in Stevenage operates at the interface between academic research and the drug discovery industry. We take novel academic targets and generate lead stage small molecules and therapeutic antibodies for indications with unmet medical need.
We require an enthusiastic Scientist to join our Asset Delivery Group. The post holder will provide support for our on-going drug discovery projects. You will work as part of the Biology Group supporting both small molecule and antibody projects, working closely with our Chemistry and Biotherapeutics Groups.
The role is predominantly lab-based supporting early phase pre-clinical drug discovery projects focusing primarily on supporting compound optimisation and development towards therapeutic candidates. Activities will include working with both small molecules and biologicals spanning our therapeutic areas (Neuroscience, Oncology and Anti-microbials). The role is part of a team developing and routinely performing in vitro plate-based assays to support High Throughput Screening, iterative compound optimisation and later stage/mechanistic profiling. As well as lab-based activities, in which you will access state of the art laboratory equipment and automation, you will become an integral part of multidisciplinary project teams and be given close support to further develop your scientific career.
Who you are:
You will be a BSc qualified scientist (Biological Sciences, Biochemistry or related discipline) with relevant laboratory experience (biotechnology/pharma preferred). You will have an analytical mindset and will be expected to analyse, interpret, summarise and report both routine and more bespoke pharmacological and biochemical analyses. You will have a keen eye for detail and strive to continually improve workstream processes within the Asset Delivery Group and develop a deep understanding of drug discovery processes. Experience of plate-based screening assays and/or Ion channels would be preferable.
Your salary will be determined by qualifications and experience. In addition, LifeArc offers a defined contribution pension scheme, private health insurance, a flexible benefits scheme, 31 days paid holiday per year.
