We are pioneering new ways to turn great science into greater patient impact at LifeArc. We do this by bringing together a network of partners to tackle specific diseases and by funding academic and early stage research.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Computational Biologist to join our expanding Antibody Discovery team at LifeArc. Our work is project-oriented, leading to coordinated efforts with much communication, towards common objectives in getting therapies and diagnostics to patients. You will join a collaborative environment comprising multidisciplinary team of laboratory scientists, informaticians, IT experts and other staff with academic and industry backgrounds.
You will be expected to develop a strong understanding of our technology platform and our target portfolios. Using your computational and biological understanding, you will then become the go-to expert for advising the discovery teams on optimal lead candidate selection methods and collaborating with the informatics team to implement new methods. You will also have opportunities to analyse and compare large data sets and influence the development of the company’s technology strategy moving forwards.
You will have hands-on experience of next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, tools and processing pipelines, have background knowledge in immunology, with deep understanding of B cell biology as well as proficiency in the use of R for data manipulation and visualisation and other statistical packages. You will also be qualified to degree level, ideally to MSc or PhD level or equivalent industry experience. To be considered for this role, you must also have experience of working in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. Experience with antibody repertoire sequence analysis or antibody discovery would be beneficial. Proficiency with the use of relational databases (SQL, JDBC) e.g. oracle or PostgreSQL as well as experience in bash scripting/ Python/ Perl and or KNIME/Pipeline Pilot or working in Linux environment is highly desirable.
