Outreach at SBC

Supporting the local community

Diversity and Inclusion

We run a series of seasonal D&I events from International Women’s Day, LGBTQIA+, neurodiversity awareness, emotional wellbeing and more. Each event circles around the life science workspace and welcomes both those from the industry and the local community, including Students, to gain an insight into the culture at SBC and offer great networking opportunities. For more information see below.

STEM support

SBC supports Stevenage educational charity STEMpoint, whose aim it is to widen access into science, technology, engineering and maths for all children across East Anglia. We run regular fundraisers including badminton tournaments and themed social events such as our Summer hat party to help raise support and awareness.

Work experience and apprenticeships

We partner with Stevenage Borough Council’s School Outreach team to support local students with interview practise and CV writing skills. We are also working on a work experience and apprenticeships strategy with businesses based at SBC, to offer internships and placements  based on a recruitment process. This is currently underway and will be shared here. Please visit this page regularly for updates.

Student tours

We host seasonal tours of the Lab Hotel and other spaces at SBC and Q&A sessions with scientists and staff based on the campus. These are arranged on a case-by-case basis and in partnership with local schools and universities.
