It was a pleasure to have over 300 members of the SBC community gather together in the Atrium for a (sunny!) Summer Social to celebrate the first half of the year’s contribution to life sciences and health innovation!
This year we added bells and whistles to the fun, with local infamous food vendor Chicken George coming on site for mouth-watering lunches, as well as delicious Korean Komex Kitchen Limited for rice noodle bowls…all of which were followed by ice cream.

Antikor Biopharma Ltd’s CEO Mahendra Deonarain, aka ‘Deno’, hosted a fantastic Summer quiz for 12 teams, and given that temperatures topped 27 degrees, we were blessed with golden sunshine, but our stretch tent shelter offered some welcome relief from the heat, alongside the Corner Room, our new wellbeing space that provided cold drinks, board games and rounds of pool for those who fancied a cool down.

Teams took part in a drop-in table tennis rally to raise funds for STEMPOINT, the local educational charity that supports equal access for regional children in science, engineering and math subjects. Well done to winners Tessellate Bio who played multiple doubles with our occupiers. SBC CFO and Interim CEO Andrew Waters took to the table, showing hidden racquet sport talents alongside his number crunching and physics background!

Thank you to all those who joined in the informal networking, we’ll keep you updated with more events here.
